The Langtang Valley Trek in Nepal begins with a tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, followed by a drive to Syabrubesi on the next day. Following our route map, we start trekking in Nepal from the lower region of the Langtang Valley, passing through the Langtang National Park, small villages, farmlands, and verdant forests until we reach Kyangjin Gompa.
Here, we also climb Tserko Ri for excellent sunrise views over the Langtang ranges. The region borders Tibet and was once an important trading route, evident in the rich local culture. The Langtang Valley Trek’s itinerary also includes a visit to the ‘Langtang Village,’ heavily affected by the devastating earthquake in April 2015. The 11-day trip concludes in Kathmandu, where it began. For a more extensive experience, you can join our Langtang Gosaikunda and Helambu Trek or the Langtang Valley trek with Ganja La Pass.

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from AAN will greet us and provide transportation to our hotel. After checking in, we freshen up and take a rest. Later in the evening, AAN will host a welcome dinner.
After breakfast today, we embark on a guided tour of several historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Notable among these World Heritage Sites are the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the renowned ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath), and the Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath), one of the largest stupas globally. Around noon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we meet our trek leader and fellow team members. AAN provides a briefing about our trek and addresses any questions we may have about our upcoming adventure.
In the morning, we depart from Kathmandu for Syabrubesi, the starting point for treks into the Langtang valley. The journey takes us along a winding road with frequent switchbacks, offering outstanding views of Manaslu, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal on clear days. Our trek concludes for the day with a descent into the small village of Syabrubesi.
Following breakfast, we commence our trek to Syabrubesi along the Langtang Khola. The journey involves simultaneous ascents and descents through oak and rhododendron forests. Upon crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola (a small river), we ascend on a steep trail, eventually reaching the Lama Hotel.
Continuing uphill from Lama Hotel, we appreciate the mountain scenery and numerous waterfalls. Upon reaching the green meadows of Ghoda Tabela, the white peaks of the Langtang range come into view. The trail ascends through the widening valley, passing temporary herder settlements. After a Buddhist monastery, we reach Langtang village, impacted by the April 2015 earthquake. The trail proceeds to Mundu.
Following breakfast, our expedition to Kyangjin Gompa, a pivotal monastery in the region, commences. Along the way, we encounter water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, and sacred rock mounds adorned with inscriptions. The journey includes passing by Nepal's largest mani wall, constructed from stone etched with written prayers. After a brief trek, the remainder of the afternoon is devoted to exploring the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and the adjacent areas, offering stunning views of the mountains.
Devoting the entire day to acclimatization, we explore Tserko Ri, aiding our adjustment to the high altitude. Starting early in the morning, the trail crosses yak pastures before ascending to Tserko Ri. The sunrise view from the summit is extraordinary. Returning to Kyangjin Gompa by late afternoon, we explore the monastery, taking in views of the Himalayas, glaciers, birds, and yaks.
Our trek commences after breakfast, retracing the path back. Today's trek predominantly descends as we traverse through forests and picturesque Tamang villages. Along the way, we are treated to a fresh perspective of the Himalayas that we might have overlooked during our ascent.
Retracing our route, we make our way back to Syabrubesi. The trek is relatively easier, primarily descending. Culminating in an overnight stay in Syabrubesi.
Post breakfast, we embark on a drive back to Kathmandu. The remainder of the day is dedicated to packing and, if time allows, engaging in some final souvenir shopping. AAN will commemorate the success of our Langtang Valley journey with a farewell dinner. The night concludes with an overnight stay in Kathmandu.
Today marks the conclusion of our adventure in Nepal. A representative from AAN will accompany us to the airport. As we journey homeward, there's ample time to reflect and plan for our next adventure in the captivating country of Nepal.
