Mardi Himal is a 5,587-metre (18,330 ft)) mountain beneath the far more renowned Machapuchare in Nepal's Annapurna region, separated by a 5,200-metre (17,060-ft). The Mardi Himal Trek was opened, following a ridge to the top, with lodges and teahouses open to an elevation of 3,550m, followed by a climb to "Base Camp" at 4,500m. The Nepalese government classifies the peak as a "trekking peak" and numerous expedition organizations offer it. The trip begins in the beautiful city of Pokhara and continues past the villages of Dhampus and Pothana, passing through deep woods of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo. The trail then leads to the Mardi Himal Base Camp, which is at an elevation of 4,500 meters and provides breathtaking views of the Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, and Himchuli peaks.
